I understand how to look for and attach or detach album art. I also saw an export feature, allowing me to create a jpg file from the album art attached to the mp3.
My questions:
- Is the album art inside the .mp3 file or is there a pointer to an external album art file?
- When a program like Tuneupmedia finds album art and attaches it, where is the file saved (assuming it is an external referenced file)?
- Is it possible to "upload" original album art to a database used by search engines for album graphics? If so, what is the recommended format & resolution?

Background:
I will be creating original mp3 files and want to supply album art as a part of the purchase. I want album art to just 'appear' with the mp3 (no user action required. An option to provide a .zip file of album graphics is available and I will also use this to provide detailed hi-res graphics but I want the end user to see album art for each mp3 without doing anything.
The other thing I observed on commercially downloaded mp3s - album art was loaded in the album directory with the associated mp3 files. iTunes and Tuneupmedia did not pickup this art (though media player and Zune had been using it prior to the update). As a result, Tuneup loaded a photograph of an LP (Long Play Record), complete with cellophane glare, as album art. I don't know what source tuneup used for this image. This image is an unsquare 502x509 where most art is 200x200 or unsqaure if off an LP.
