Removing and converting tags

Hi guys, I read the instructions but I still have problems doing the converting and removing properly.

I set my options to Remove ID3v1,2, APE. Write ID3v2. Read ID3v1,2. So what should I do next? I tried removing tags but it removes all my title, artist and album together and I have to retype everything and save as ID3v2.3, is this the only way?
My tracks have both ID3v1 and v2.

Hi DetlevD, I've read the FAQs section before. But got it fixed while trying just now, I'm not supposed to remove all three tags.
