is there a way i can do a search for a particular of text in the title. for instance, i want to be able to quickly search for the word "feat" in the title field, have it hightlighted so I can modify it. ? I don't want to modify anything, just want to be able to seach for the word, have it highlight it so I can run a different action later.

I am using that. I was asking is there a way to highligh the word instead of it searching through all the tag fields. I specifically wanted it only to look for the word in a particular field..such as Title.

Highlighting makes no sense if you enter a regular expression that looks for files that do NOT feature a particular string.
If you want to limit a list to certain field:

for instance.. if I type in the filter box artist IS "Amerie"... i get the results..

but if i wanted to seach the Title Field for Why using title IS "Why" I don't see anything.

That is because there is no TITLE with just the single word "Why".
Try the operator "HAS".
