SFTP mount does not allow to write tags

I mount a SFTP drive from a Ubuntu server on a Mac Mini which contains my media files. I have read/write rights (I double checked this). I can add files to my queue without problems but if I want to write the tags it does not work. Are there known issues or it is a normal behaviour?

I have no experience with this setup, so I can't tell if it's normal or not. I'm surprised that you're using SFTP and not SMB — is this a remote server?

How are you mounting the SFTP drive on macOS? Which version of macOS is running on the Mac Mini? What's the error message (screenshot)?

Thanks for replying.

The drives are mounted with a Mac app called "FTP mounter". The app creates a folder in Finder where I can read and write without problems.

And yes, it is a remote server. I prefer SFTP as a solution because I use multi platform OS. There are no poblems with the SFTP mount and mp3Tag under Windows 11.

macOS is Sequoia 15.1.1

It's most likely a problem with the macOS version of the software you're using. Please check if there is, e.g., an error log which might give you more details on why the write operation fails.

It's possible that Mp3tag needs to create a temporary file for performing changes in MP4 metadata, so that needs to be permitted too.

I've tried various changes on an SFTP drive mounted via Mountain Duck, and this worked without problems. Maybe you can also give it a try (there is a trial version).

I think is has something to do with the rights management in Mac OS and mp3TAG. I will try to troubleshoot the issue.

Once again, only mp3Tag has cannot write. This is not a system wide behaviour.

Thanks anyway.

Can you send a link to the app you've mentioned?

FTP Mounter Light:

Are you already running v1.4 of this app (released 12h ago), which — according to the changelog — uses a different way of mounting compared to previous versions?
