[Solved] Non 'Big Sur' style icon swap for Mac users (how-to)

As a huge fan of non squircle (big sur+) style icons I went ahead and made a custom .icns file from Alexander Käßner’s (hope I’m giving correct credit here) original new Mp3tag icon design which is the same as the current icon for the Windows version. This design looks awesome on the dock alongside older apps and I wanted to share it with everyone here if they want to use it too.

It’s very easy on OSX/macOS to DIY swap icons just right click your Mp3tag.app and select Get Info, then drag and drop the “AppIcon.icns” file (DL and unzip the file in this post) over the existing icon in the upper part of the Info box. You will see the icon change. Then for good measure, navigate to /Applications/Mp3tag.app/Contents/Resources and copy the new icon to the directory, overwriting the old one (back up the old one in case you want to revert). It should change the icon in your dock/launchpad/etc either immediately or on next app open. If not, try a reboot and you’ll be set. Cheers!

AppIcon.icns.zip (83.4 KB)

I hope this is cool to post, if for any reason it’s not I’ll remove it.
