Problem:

Some MP3 files will not play in Windows 10 iTunes - but will play is all other players.

They are not purchased music. They pass all MP3 "checker" type scans / utilities.

I've seached the forum and did not find anything that seemed related to my issue.

When double clicking on some MP3 file, iTunes as the default player will start, the track shows as now playing in the title, plays (no music) for only 1-2 seconds, then stops. If there are more MP3 files queue to play next, iTunes will jump to the the next file t o play, if that file is deemed in error by iTunes, it too is bypassed, until a valid MP3 file is found. Then it is played just fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

What do you mean by "checker" type scans?
You could have a look at the actual audio data with audacity or some similar program like Nero wave editor.
What do you think is the role of MP3tag in this problem?

iTunes has a beginning and end timestamp for each playable track in its info dialog. Select the file and get info then check that as you could've accidentally done that which is unlikely.

Your question doesn't relate to mp3Tag. So best bet is ask on iTunes forum.
