Thank you for the tips. The real problem with restoring was that I was too stupid to think of archiving the older version to begin with. I will be more careful to do so in the future, thanks for the advice. The very latest version of Iconpackager 3.0a released on 7/12 apparently removes the problematic DLL for now. This is from the release notes:
"Upgrading" to this release didn't work for me, however, nor did even uninstalling it completely. The only thing that worked was unregistering that DLL manually. Now everything is fine.
Sorry to bring the topic up again myself. I am experiencing a similar problem myself. The programme won't run. I have none of the fancy software mentioned and running <regsvr32 /u iprepair.dll> failed as no such dll file could be found.
The programme freezes with the hourglass cursor - as soon as I click the "change directory" icon. I tried all the usual: uninstalling, re-installing, deletion of the subfolder under documents and settings as was suggested. No improvement in the situation.
I succeeded to run the programme at last. I uninstalled, deleted the related folder under "my documents and settings", ran the software "RegCleaner", re-installed Mp3tag and hey presto!
I am pleased to say that ever since I entered the PC world, I have mastered the art of solving problems without the need to understand what I'm doing!!!!!
