Help for View | Filter has no info on how to use the filter. I suggest it link to "Filtering files and tags (Searching)".

If you press F1 in the filter the respective help topic gets displayed.

Sorry to be unclear. Clarification: F1 in the filter to get the respective help topic displayed is useful, but also Help, View | Filter should have info on filter operation.
