I Been editing unreleased music for a while now and been wondering if i could add live lyrics/synced lyrics to local files. doesnt matter what file, i typically do m4a files
MP4 have only one lyrics field which in mp3tag is mapped to unsyncedlyrics. You can add lyrics there for Apple Music app, but it will not be synced to the music.
is there anyway to get synced lyrics? doesnt matter for the audio file
For playback in music.app on apple devices? I have tried to do this in a number of ways and it doesn’t seem to be possible. Apple displays synced lyrics with the pleasing animations using ttml formatted xml files uploaded to them by artists/producers/distributors etc. Apple then delivers these lyrics in some unknown manner to the music player app on iOS and MacOS separately from the audio. You can tell it’s never part of the audio file because if you download the an Apple Music track, disconnect from the internet, play the song and click the lyrics button, it says that lyrics aren’t available. Connect back to the internet and play the song again and click lyrics again, and there is a noticeable delay while the lyrics are fetched from the server. Disconnect from the internet again and the lyrics are gone.
Tracks I uploaded myself using iTunes Match will only display synced lyrics if (1) the lyrics metadata tag is empty, meaning the custom lyrics tab in the music app is not showing any custom lyrics, AND (2) I have an active Apple Music subscription at the same time.
I tried every kind of method to embed timestamped lyrics into audio files, either local ones or ones matched with iTunes Match…until I realized they are delivered entirely separately.
Uggghhh I have been spoiled by synced lyrics and apple knows it
