Hi, totally new to all this. I have a lot of music stored on my computer and phone, set up as a folder for each album, both set up to play in track order. The problem is I have just put all the albums on a usb and appears to be in track order. However, When it plays it is name/ Aphabet order. I have edited an album, putting 1_9 in front of the track name which seems to work. Just wondering if there is a quicker method as I have 260gb of albums/ music. Thanks
Please tell us which tag fields are filled in your tracks.
A good approach is to fill ALBUMARTIST, ARTIST, ALBUM, TITLE, TRACK.
Usually, a player should not rely on the organisation of files in the file system but read the metadata and use that for different grouping schemes.
Hi,
Filename;path, tag; title;artist, album artist, album; track.
I had no input in the above, I just ripped it from the cd using creative media organiser. Very 2000's I know.
What device are you playing these files with? Often car systems using a USB device with folder/file search play in the order the files were written to the storage.
If these are the columns in the MP3tag file list but you see no data, then I would strongly recommend that you fill the metadata (first).
Target fields your be the ones I already listed.
Otherwise the player probably sort by the unknown artist with the unknown album and the unknown title - and takes the filename. or the order that the filesystem offers.
There are ways to recycle Information from the filenames and folder names with the help of MP3tag - but for that you would have to show us real file- and folder names.
