So I would say that everything following that 3rd post is a new problem.

ok, i have tried every whick way i can think to get this nto ant action with no luck, you tell me i'm using mixed field or format and strings, so not knowing what they may be could someone please tell me. also is there a way to pull entries from manage history to to top of mp3tag without going into manage history each time. Thanks for all the help dp19
If this
works, then use as
Source format string: %_filename%
Thanks for that info.
ok i give uo. if using $_filename% no info can be pul do to the info i like to pull is in the directory folder. so to me an action can't not be done wich i like to use instead of covert filename - tag and having to pull up manage hitory all the time. Thanks
The variable is called %_filename%.
And you know the ritual: if something "does not work" then a lot more details about the found results, messages and most preferred: screenshots are to be supplied by you.
ok here we go
i want to pull us - rock from the directory name Loggins & Messina - us - rock. this is where that info is only located, NOT IN THE FILENAME.
nothing happen when i run the action so why and how do i get this to work please. i rather use actions then convert filename to tag. Thanks dp19
Just use exact this Guessing pattern:
%dummy% - %country% - %genre%\%dummy%
and the Source format
%_PATH%
(not %_FILENAME%. It only contains the filename, not the parent directories before the backslash \ )
This writes US in COUNTRY and ROCK in GENRE for an example song called
E:\LOGGINS & MESSINA - US - ROCK\01 - Test.mp3

Lyricslover Thank You that exactly what i'm looking for. i try it worked great!! just needed the correct source input Thanks all....dp19 out
