once again i'm on the correct format string needed to pull tag info from a frirectory, i can't figure the string to pulll the following from a directory,
adam ant -england - rock.
my goal is to add the country and genre within the tag. can someone please help with the format string. Thank You
The linked section also asks to use formatting. So, could you follow the instructions, please?
I am pretty sure that there is a backslash between genre and dummy.
What I can suspect right now: I assume that you use the folder name as source.
But if you look at the name of the previously applied function Convert>Filename-Tag it uses the filename and not the folder name.
And I also see a trailing space behind the first hyphen in the source but none in the guessing pattern.
But as all these minute differences are important, I much more prefer a screenshot than a written copy.
You either have to use the filename as source format or use a guessing pattern that uses the folder name exclusively.
Right now you have the folder name as source but use a guessing pattern that assumes a filename.
So which should it be?
That is not true.
You mixed it up as you supplied a foldername as source but used a guessing pattern for a filename.
Or in more details:
where in the source do you find the backslash that you supplied in front of %dummy% in the guessing pattern?
Yes. as an action. But in your example you mixed it up as described.
So, will you show us your original approach in a screenshot?
BTW: if the converter is easier to use - why don't you use the "Manage history ..." function and label that converter string with a name like an action and call it when required?
The variable _directory does not have the backslash - and also no string following that backslash.
That is why your guessing pattern does not match.
It would be easiest if you used %_filename% as source.
