Tag several files THEN save, or edit next file while first is saving?

Hello. I am tagging my audiobook library. I am manually copying files from original to temp folder, loading temp folder in Mp3tag, then running an export process from temp to finished folder.

My question is, is it possible to pause the saving function from saving each file individually, until I have written tags in numerous files, then save them all at once?

If possible, I'd like to prevent having to wait for each individual file to save (a few seconds to a minute+), where I cannot move on to begin editing the next file. Or is there a way to allow me to continue editing the next file, while the first file is saving?

For example, my ideal process would be:

  1. Load up a batch of say 50 untagged files
  2. Fix tags for year and genre of all files
  3. Press save, wait seconds to minutes, as all new edits are saved to each individual file
  4. Export as usual

or

  1. Load up files
  2. Fix tags of single file
  3. Press save as edits are saved to single file
  4. While file is saving, move on to editing second file
  5. Press save, continuing on for all files
  6. Export as usual

Instead, the process currently is:

  1. Load up batch of untagged files
  2. Click first file, make changes in the tag panel
  3. Press save, wait seconds to minutes to save changes to single file
  4. Click second file, make changes, save, wait...
  5. Repeat for each file
  6. Export all files at once

I am running mp3tag on my internal hard drive (500gb free space), while my library is on an external hard drive (~5T free space.) Thanks in advance.

If you want to edit a single tag field in a single file, then the file list may offer the better interface as that saves the modification at the moment you select the next file.

The tag panel is best to apply the same data to a lot of files.
Also, there are actions that may speed up the process e.g. if you import data from the filename.

The speed of saving modifcations depends a lot on the local environment and the file type and the available padding.
So, large files (e.g. flac or videos) on a NAS with no available padding usually take longest to update.
Small local files on an SSD with sufficient padding should update with hardly any noticeable delay.
