Tag single songs

OK, for anyone who saw my last post, I am indeed a newb to mp3tag, but I absolutely love it so far.

So my latest dilema is I have lots of mp3's that are not part of a whole album - just a bunch of individual songs. Is there any way to use the web search feature to tag individual songs, or does it only work for full albums?

I've tried looking up the album the song is on, highlighting the sing in the results window, and tagging, but it always just tags it with the first track name, then I have to go back and edit the song name manually. (this is still much easier than typing in all the info)

thanks in advance

You could use freedb and the websearch feature.

I realize this post is ancient, but replying anyway...

Freedb and the websearch feature do not have any bearing on this problem. I have been having the same problem as the OP. And FWIW, the Freedb and web search features are useless...I have had zero luck with them.

The solution for the problem is this:

  • Choose your album from the search results (I'm using MusicBrainz) and click Next.
  • On the Metadata screen, the track listing will be in the bottom left pane, your single track will be in the bottom right pane.
  • Drag your single track (right pane) into the same location as the track from the album. For example, if your track is track 10, drag it so it matches up with track 10 on the left track listing pane. You will see the upper left "Metadata Title" pane update when you change it.
  • Click OK and your track with be tagged with the correct information, without having to manually update the track Title back on the main screen.

Hope this helps!
