I'm ripping CDs to a Bluesound Vault. One CD appears in the listing as (for example) "Smith Jim" whereas all the others appear as Jim Smith. I've used Mp3tag to change the artist and album artist to be correct and then saved but it's still showing up as Smith Jim. I must be doing something wrong ...
Does MP3tag show the metadata as you expect?
If so, you would have to find out how your player can be triggered to update its database / cache / catalog.
Sometimes it is worth a try to rename the file, start the update process in the player and see whether the new data is displayed.
Mp3tag shows the altered metadata on the left-hand panel but it is still wrong in the file pathname so I guess you're right, I need to find out what triggers the Vault to update its database. If I find out, I'll report back ...
Modifying the filename is an additional step.
see the documentation:
Filenames may reflect some of the tag data - but in general the filename has only the function to allow the operating system to find a file and that the filename is unique.
If your device doesn't list files that appear to be properly tagged in Mp3tag, I'd first try reindexing and, if that's not helping, rebuilding the index.
Well, I'd tried the reindexing command several times and I'm not sure what else I've just done but it is now correct on the Vault.
I think the problem is that I'm simultaneously trying to get to grips with how the Vault database works and how Mp3tag works and I'm falling between the cracks!
