Tags only show after clicking on each track

Different topic: these files are broken to some extent.

OK, so what about this suggestion:

That is what I figured. They play but the tag information is fubared. I do have these all backed up on the second SSD and on offline drives so not an issue. Thanks.

Too late for that since once the tags display in Mp3Tag they will upon the next reread so something happens to the files. I have no idea. Kinda crazy.

So, have you switched off the library function and reloaded the files?

I just told you that I switched to a different directory on a different drive and read those tags. Then I switched back to the directory I am having trouble with and upon the reread the tags showed this time, after the previous select all and then ALT-T, so anything I do NOW proves nothing because the tags will display once reread.

Yes, but you do not tell us whether you switched off the library function.
Please remember this previous thread:

I remember that, but I did not switch off the library function after I selected all and then used ALT-T to reread the tags because that was not suggested until after I already had it working. The tags show now on any reread so I don’t see what switching off library will do at this point.

If I have this problem again with a different directory of files I will switch off the library function first and then reread and I will report that back to you for your information. Does that help? Nothing I do now to this directory is going to change anything because now the tags read.

Actually, the better shortcut is Ctrl-T.
In short: all the information that you got in this thread was already supplied in the previous one. That is what I meant when I observed that

And if you got it working now, everything should be fine.

The problem being I could not find the previous thread and it has been months since I messed with this because I have been busy with other things. I do not understand the navigation of this forum software as it is nothing like I am used to.

If you would have simply pointed me to that thread in the first place I would have not bothered you anymore!

The library feature only works on the files in the directories you have pointed that feature at. And it depends on the files being opened by mp3tag at least once in the past. After that, mp3tag will use the library when opening to speed up loading times, only stopping to read the tag info for files with a modification date newer than what mp3tag last noted.

So if the above was the case, then perhaps the “different directory” you mention is not set up to be in the library?

Separate issue, but regarding the F5 shortcut, are you using a laptop or keyboard that requires you to use a Fn function key to activate those keys instead of custom features like volume, brightness, etc?
