Troubles with connectivity to both MusicBrainz and Bandcamp

I've noticed in recent weeks that both MusicBrainz is experiencing overload and Bandcamp is timing out with a "Failed to authenticate" error

. The MB issue has been documented elsewhere but I don't see anything re: Bandcamp. This is occuring at least four out of five attempts throughout the U.S. ET day and evening.

Are these solely third-party issues. If so, is there a third option to use via mp3tag?

Does the same thing happen if you try a VPN with a different country of origin?

This means that the MusicBrainz servers were unable to handle your request. It's because either their server is down or overloaded, much in line of the recent communication around this:

Maybe this is related to your "operation timed out"?
For MB, it could also be that you are querying a very large release. Or is it the cover art that is very big?

Thanks for following up. I don't use VPNs because of the lag. As mentioned, I've seen the explanation for MusicBrain, but not Bandcamp. The cover art is often a meg or less - standard. The errors occur even if there is no cover art.

Perhaps if there's a way to unauthenticate, reauthenticate Bc, I'd try that next.

The timeouts you're experiencing are different from the mentioned MusicBrainz 503 responses (which indicate a Service Unavailable error).

Have you tried increasing the timeout at File → Options → Networking?

Also, please make sure you're using the latest Bandcamp Tag Source where you search by pasting a Bandcamp URL.
