Trying to remove disc #'s, listing every track in order instead

Hello Mp3tag community. I've been using this tagging program for a while, and it's saved me so much time when it comes to organizing my music. Right now, though, I've got a bit of a strange issue that I need to tackle, but I have no idea how I could go about it.

The way I have most of my albums sorted on my desktop is by disc number and track number, as most people would. However, I also have a copy on an older MP3 player of mine, and it struggles with disc numbers. For example, multi-disc albums will typically clump up in terms of the first track for each disc (1.1, 2.1, 3.1, etc) whenever I pull up the album to listen to.

Since I have this full copy of my music library on my player, is there any way I can load up the entire library on my music player into Mp3tag, and re-number all of my tracks to be without disc numbers and just in one continuous track order? (Think instead of having 2 discs, each with 16 tracks, it would have no disc number and just have 32 tracks, but would maintain the order of the 2 discs.). I don't think I would need to automate this after the fact, since I'd only be copying albums at around 1-3 at a time after the fact, and at that scale, I could just do this by hand. I just want a way that'd hopefully let me do this to all of the files on the device at once instead of having to edit each album individually.

Any help would be appreciated!

Did you not use the autonumbering wizard till now?

If you have additional questions to this wizard, just ask.

Thanks for the quick response, poster. I've used the autonumbering wizard a lot, since I like to remove the padding from my track #'s. I just don't know how I'd get it to work for what I'm specifically trying to do.

I can have all 2000-ish tracks loaded in Mp3tag at once, and then I can sort them by album, which seems to get them all in numerical/disc order. The only thing that I'm not sure what to do is how to get it to restart numbering the tracks whenever it gets to a new album. It looks like the only way I could reset the counter is when the disc # changes.

Would the easiest way of doing this be to highlight all of the album's tracks, run the numbering wizard without the "reset track number on next disc" parameter, and then, after doing this to all albums, strip the disc # from the metadata?

After you have all files set up in the order you want in mp3tag start the wizard. Check the very first box at the top to auto-number the tracks. Then uncheck all of the other boxes except the one that says "Next Disc On Change Of" then in the drop-down box select the field for Album.
