Unable to use most of the options of Mp3tag

Hi,

Most of the options are in a gray color and I cannot do anything with them.

What am I doing wrong?

I've attached a screenshot. Thank you!

It looks like you haven’t selected any files to work with. These would be shown in the file browser in the right main window. Once there are some tracks there and you select one or more of them, these options and tools will become available.

If you look at the taskbar at the bottom of Mp3tag in the lower right corner, you can see that there are 0 tracks with 0 seconds of music loaded. This indicates that Mp3tag was started without loading any tracks.

This is how it looks if you have loaded 9'773 tracks (with a play time of 26 days, 08 hours, 38 minutes and 12 seconds) and if one of the tracks is selected (the one with a length of 02 minutes and 43 seconds):

I feel like I'm missing something basic, but how do I upload audio files? I'm using the "add directory" option and it's not recognizing any of the audio files I want to upload.

What type of audio files are these?

Try a different way to have some files loaded. In explorer, navigate to a folder that you know contains some of your music. Right-click on that folder, and choose to open them with mp3tag.

You should then be able to these in the file list window. And in the bottom right corner the status bar should show a count of files displayed and loaded for mp3tag to work with.

Thank you! Doing it that reverse way worked! The files are regular mp3 and m4b files.
I appreciate your help.

Okay, good to know it is working. You should be able to open the same folder from within mp3tag and get the same results though.

The "Add Directory" or "Change Directory" function opens an explorer window and only affects the complete loading of the contents of folders, not a selection of files. They therefore do not show the file-contents of folders. If you want to load a selection of music files, you have the option of doing this via explorer via its context menu or via drag & drop.
