Writing tags has become unusably slow

I write a roonalbumtag to all my ripped albums donating year and storage and it has slowed to treacle, what would normally take 10-20 seconds is taking 4-5 minutes.

I think this is the first time I have used it with 3.24.

Any help appreciated.

Where are your files located?
Locally? On a NAS? External USB-HDD?

What kind of tracks do you use? MP3? FLAC? WAV?

If you use FLAC files, it could be that one of the latest Mp3tag changes could be the reason:

A long time ago, two years in fact, I created this thread: I had asked for something to be added in MP3tag: to be able to see and remove padding from FLAC files natively within MP3tag. As you know, adding a cover art to FLAC files creates the necessary space within the file to accomodate it. However, what you may not know, removing the cover art does NOT remove the extra space that the cover art needed. You need to use metaflac.exe to sanitize the tags. Sluggish performance

I have been noticing sluggish performance on this last build and it has gotten progressively worse. I do not see others reporting this, so maybe it has to do with my system, but other programs are not exhibiting the same "sluggishness." Basically, when I select a tract to work on it, the track highlights and everything pauses for 3-4 seconds before I can work on any field. If I click on any field during this time, nothing happens. I did what I probably should have done first and rebooted my NUC running Roon ROCK which has a USB drive attached which is where the music files are stored (flac)

This has got the speed back up to normal again.
