Wrong album art showing

I was interested in the discussion with AtlBigDog about problems with album art. I’m also starting to have album art issues, but not the same thing.

I recorded something a few nights ago and tagged it, adding two images to the album cover space.

Later, I started editing tags on other files – airchecks and podcasts – in the same directory, planning to add album art to those that didn’t have any. For some reason, one of the images I’d added to the piece I’d done Sunday night started appearing on these files. It was not possible to remove it; on the right-click menu “Remove cover” was blank. “Add cover” was not, so I just put in the art I had planned to use, which did stay in place after I’d saved it.

That one image is showing for every file in that directory that didn’t have its own art. It’s limited to that one directory as far as I can tell. There’s nothing unusual about the picture. I’ve been using mp3tag since the early 2000s and this is the first time I have ever experienced any kind of problem with it. Thank you.

Mp3tag prioritizes cover art in the tag panel as follows:

  1. Cover art embedded in the media file
  2. If none is present, cover art from the folder

If you only want to see embedded cover art, you can enable this option.

Files -> Options -> Tags -> Don't display fist image from file directory as cover art

Thank you! This worked.
