Another update (13)
Hi there
Thank you for such a useful script, but I am having problems searching for some things
The release ID search doesnt seem to work, it comes up with a connection error for discogs
And also the Artist + Album search doesnt work for me
I have an album called Overture | KANA with Various artists, so I put in the search Various Overture and it said there were no results
Please can you help?
Many Thanks!
At release ID search, use only the Number from the Discogs URL as search input. 3130739 for you example.
At Artist + Album search, use artist&release_title=album as search input, as it is filled in automatically into the search box. Various&release_title=Overture | KANA for your example.
Great, thank you for such a quick reply & explanation, such a useful script you have, thanks very much again! ![]()
Looks like Discogs made another update. The search by release ID doesn't work anymore.
That and track lists aren't showing up either. Good times!
The 'stock' search by the album name still works, so I've been using that, but I really prefer using the release #. A lot faster.
Updated with the latest pone script.
Use Mp3tag v2.50Weird. So I circled 2 errors I find with this mod.

It's turning "12"" to "12\u0022" and not pulling the album art.
Let me just say thank you for your hard work, this script has saved me countless of hours.
It seems that vinyl releases without track lengths messes the track number tags, like this:
edit: It isn't only vinyl releases without lengths, does the same for this also:
brandon210 make sure you have Mp3tag v2.50
rechunt pone is looking into the issue. He also deserves full credit for the latest versions.
update finished
oops! That's my fault, then. I have 2.49b. I'll update.
Hi Dano, any chance to get back the old MIXARTIST style "Role: Artist" instead of "Artist (Role)" without the word "Credits:" at the beginning?. I also noticed the "Companies etc" section is being parsed into the DISCOGS_NOTES field. Oh, and it seems that parsing multi-genre releases is borked, the Genre field remains NULL. Sorry for complaining;)
PS. I am running Mp3tag v2.50 with your discogs_extended_16 script.
Thanks, great job!
Felyx I've made some changes in v17
Regarding (album)artist names and their additional data (sorted name, country, person/band, etc) I have written some musicBrainz-based scripts. They have saved me a lot of time and eliminated the same artist in multiple formats (mccartney, McCartney, MCCARTNEY, etc). Most of the players consider all those as different artist.
I will post those in a separate topic.
Discogs has another update, I think
Hi
I think something discogs has change so that the Dano Script doesn't work's
I use MP3Tag2.52 and Extended Script 17.
I get this message:

Yes the search doesn't anymore. So please wait until an update is released.
You can still use the ID script.
Just a fair warning, as I'm not sure that this happens to all. After having used this plugin, Discogs.com stopped loading without the use of a proxy. I contacted them; and they told me "Your ip was banned due to high repeated connections with an "XBMC" based tagging client."
Essentially, back when the XBMC plugin was developed it forced so many connections upon Discogs host servers that the behavior practically emulated a DOS attack.
I do not know if this is an issue that revolves around ALL discogs plugins that do the same but you may wish to examine your source and make adjustments to how connections are handled, executed and how the data is parsed.
Otherwise, EXCELLENT PLUGIN!
