Just updated to v̶.1̶.0̶4̶ v1.04.1, hopefully addresses some of the issues raised:
@RobertMprimary_release_year was indeed far better for searching for movies and I’ve tried my best getting as much MKV metadata as possible showing up in File Explorer. I decided against transferring TITLE to SUBTITLE (I understand it would show up as Episode Name but I think the title of the TV show is fine shown in the folder/filename, title of the episode kept filed in where it should be) but I did transfer TVSHOW to ALBUM and DESCRIPTION to SUMMARY so target types of the same kind aren’t getting mixed up. Later on I might put in a table of what tags show up in columns/properties panel but the ones you expect should be there plus fun ones like Parental Rating and Tags.
@rojaljelly I’ve included an installation guide, turns out you CAN change TRACK to mimic TVEPISODE so it’s ordered as expected in ”Adjust Tags”.
There’s also a ridiculous amount of new stuff. Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see
Sorry, I should have given some form of an update earlier but figured I’d just go full throttle with it.
@arb I'm really looking forward to testing the new features!
Thank you again so much for all the effort you've put into developing it further.
The script is a real game-changer for me! Updating well over 20,000 tags has been so much faster than I ever imagined. Only TMDB's stubbornness regarding the strict separation of movies and TV shows, and the fact that there's only one sorting order for TV shows, is a bit frustrating, especially with my huge TV series collection. There are so many series with longer extra episodes that TMDB lists as movies and therefore have no connection to the rest of the series. TVDB is much more open in this regard and has therefore been my main tag source until now. But with the convenience of your scripts, a little manual sorting is perfectly acceptable.
Thank you once again!!!
Hi, I followed installations instructions to best of my ability although the fist step is confusing:
“… copy over TMDB#Results.inc, TMDB#Settings.settings and all .src’s out of the Search folder.” What files from the zip archive should I copy and what folder should I copy them to?
At any rate, when I try to use the script I get the following script error: ERROR(Settings): expected value, got 'T' (84)
Check out this link for full instructions on installing web sources and any other things into MP3Tag.
But in short, in MP3Tag itself: click File → Open configuration folder → data → sources.
In your zip file, copy TMDB#Results.inc and TMDB#Settings.settings into that sources folder. These are the inner workings of the scripts so please make sure they’re in that same folder with your .src’s and not renamed or changed in any way or else the scripts will throw that error.
In your zip file, there’s a folder called Search containing TMDB#Search - Movie.src, TMDB#Search - TV.src and TMDB#Search - Multi.src. These are basically your interface for the script that run off the other two files. Copy any or all of these three into the sources folder to try it out and see which suits your needs best.
From there, you can copy over any other .src’s to try out what they offer as you please (but they’re not essential ).
I’m releasing a new update tonight so I’d suggest deleting your old TMDB files and trying again with this new lot
Thanks! It worked! I updated the script and followed your instructions. Just in case this happens to somebody else, I ran into an issue where only 20 episodes would be retrieved from the database… I went to “settings” under “TMDB” and immediately saw the “Episode limit” option set to 20. I switched it to 100 and that took care of that. Great script!
I've added some music tags like ARTIST, COMPOSER, CONDUCTOR, LYRICIST for anyone with musicals or live shows. This might help tie your video and music collections closer together with similar metadata
I also put in a ton of effort making some fancy icons thanks to the new Toolbar customisations that you can use for your choice of TMDB scripts! They're named the same as their paired script but use them in what ever order you want.
I tried to style them after the Default icon set combined with TMDB's visual identity. Here's the ones made for Settings, Search and ID:
Also some light fixes here and there, tidied up the documentation and re-working the actions into something bigger.
I have made some changes to how some tags are processed, namely GROUPING replaced with CONTENTGROUP, YEAR formatting and what's stored in COMPOSER / WRITER / SCREENPLAY. Please review the changelog for anything that might alter your workflow.
Let me know if there's ever a problem or a need/want.
Brilliant Love this - thanks for creating it. Have you ever looked at doing something with Music Videos? Seems there is very little/nothing out there when it comes to tagging Music Videos. Thanks again
Yeah, i was looking at trying to redesign this (with the help of ChatGPT) as it works, but the layout feels a bit messy and .nfo files sometimes error, but that could be me! Only i like Kodi / Navidrome to use my local artwork etc which I have aquired using these kind of tagging tools.
I did reach out to the developer of this via GitHub and they confirmed they are happy for their coding to be used/reworked - I just never get round to doing these things, thats neurodiversity for you! Have some great ideas but then CBA to act on them.
