Year Category Needs Correcting

Hiya all

I have loads of files with the year field filled in like this

2021\\2021

Is there a way please to strip out everything from \ just to leave 2021

Reformating YEAR field

The \\ is MP3tag's representation of a multi-value field: you have at least 2 fields of the type YEAR in the files. There are action to either merge the fields to one field (use a different separator than \\) or to delete all duplicate fields. Or you have a look at the extended tags dialogue (Alt-T) and see the fields there and decide which field to delete.

Load the files
Select the files.
Create an action of the type "Remove duplicate fields" and enter YEAR and field.
Then click ok to close all dialogues and execute the action.

A possible reason why this happened maybe the use of Mediamonkey for tagging.
If you use Mediamonkey and want to use it also in the future: there is a setting in Mediamonkey that can avoid this.
Add this to the file mediamonkey.ini:

[MP3Tagging]
DisableFrames=TDRC;TDOR;
EnableFrames=TYER;TDAT;TORY;
