My home library is shared from my server to several devices in the house. Distributed audio is handled by analog and USB inputs to my trusty Pioneer Elite SC-79 home theatre receiver. The USB audio is used only in the main zone, the home theatre area. The analog is used for a second zone output to five different rooms using a distribution system. All can be managed using either the iTunes Home Server combined with Apple's Remote app, or using DLNA handled from the server using Asset uPNP from Illustrate.
My mobile listening device is an iBasso DX160 digital audio player. It uses an older version of Android OD (8.1) but since it is dedicated to just being a player this is more than sufficient. My current favorite headphone pairing are the KZ ZAX that fit just right and have a great sound signature for my listening taste. I have several player apps installed, it depends on what I'm doing and sometimes just my mood which one I use.
I have posted some reviews of these here for reference.
My work phone is an iPhone 12. It gets the job done, but isn't as flexible as Android. Yet surprisingly there are still some really good player apps that break the standards that Apple has established. Maybe I'll review some of those in the near future.
EDIT: I have started an iOS music player thread here.
I also use my phones. 2 different phones. I don't use headphones that often anymore. Just love listening to all that music on my Samsung and my Sony though. I prefer the Samsung if I want to make a long video of a random or handmade playlist. It will record 7+ hours no problem. I can only record up to 1 hour on the Sony. They both sound great. I never even wanna sit in one place, and listen to music like it was 20 years ago again at all. Everywhere I walk to I wanna just carry my phone. It's just friggin perfect for me. Get everything I need from it. Every drop of sound I need.
Unless I am listening to my own music I just made that day or the day before as I play music too. Then I wanna use headphones. But they caused a lot of tinnitus including some work I did on some live vid off Youtube a 2 week ago. So I am back to just the phone speakers again. Real nice speakers on both the Samsung A72 and the Sony Xperia 1 ii. They sound great. I guess if I am being really loud I can plug into my amp and let it go. I play the loud stuff thru a Line 6 Amplifi 150.
Always with the Musicolet player for Android. Downloaded over 10 million times. I was making vid recommendations for it 6 or 7 years ago on Youtube when it was still pretty new.
I didn't notice this thread was started 20 years ago. Anyone using a Zune? Damn I was telling someone about the JVC stereo I used to have in college 35 years ago. The tape player radio I had when I was 9...that's 40 years ago. 20 years ago I was playing all my cds in a pair of 400CD changers made by sony. One bought new the other found used. so 800 discs in rotation. I had been listening to most of this music so long it has been thoroughly vetted by 2011 when I finally ripped my first track to a computer.
