I have a language learning program I wish to import into the Music app on my Macbook.
The "artist" is Pimsleur. The "album" is German 1. The album has thirty tracks. Each track is originally titled Unit 01, Unit 02, Unit 03, etc.
Right now, in the Music app, the title of each track is %Album% %track%. I don't know how that happened.
I wish to change the title of each track so it shows the album and the unit.
e.g. German 1-01, German 1-02, German 1-03.
I must have the name of the album because there are two more albums, German 2 and German 3, and each has thirty tracks.
When I imported all three albums into the Music app I ended up with three tracks titled Unit 01 but there's no way to know if it's Unit 01 for German 1 or German 2 or German 3. This is why each track must show the name of the album.
I am a new user. I know NOTHING about Mp3tag or about tags in general. I seek a clear, simple explanation.
I have attached two screen images. One shows how the files look in Mp3tag now.
The other shows how it looks on the Music app.
How did you get the strange string "%album% %track%" as data into TITLE? Via the tag-panel?
If you want to assign the contents of other fields to the field TITLE, then use Convert>Tag-Tag for TITLE
Format string: %album% %track%
or as the screenshot shows that you have "German 1-01" in TRACK which should also appear in TITLE, simply use
Format string: %track%
I have no idea. I'm just clicking on stuff, almost randomly, hoping I stumble across the solution. I click, try something, then import it again into the Music app. So far, I haven't found the answer.
I don't understand your suggestion but I'll fiddle with it and see if it works. As I said, I know NOTHING about tags, about the program Mp3tags, etc. Everything you say is 90% Chinese to me, and the 10% I understand I use as clues to try random shit. Maybe I'll get lucky. Fingers crossed.
I found it.
I have no idea what it does. I don't know what "Tag-Tag" means and the program doesn't explain it anywhere.
As I said before, I know NOTHING. I paid for this because it is supposedly easy to use. I'm trying to do a very basic thing, but every time I try I spend an hour clicking around and getting nowhere.
