When the next button on my player is pressed, instead of going from "file a" to "file b" the player moves forward a minute or so. Apparently the MP3 file has embedded chapter markers or bookmarks. How do I remove these?
What player do you talk about? (Name? Do you use it on Windows 11?)
Please press Alt + T on this mp3 file loaded in Mp3tag and show us a screenshot of it.
Right-click on the files > Utils>Remove unsupported fields
Smart AudioBook Player on an Android phone.
Just updated to v3.30.
I don't have these options.
Options look the same as before I updated.
See here:
3.30a (2025-06-14)
NEW: added support for removing MP3 tag types ID3v1, ID3v2, and APEv2 individually via File List context menu Utils.
NEW: added support for removing unsupported fields from MP3 files via File List context menu Utils.
so perhaps 3.30 is not enough but 3.30a would do
What version is your screenshot from?
I use currently 3.30c
Updated to 3.30c and now have that option, but it did not remove the chapters or bookmarks or whatever is keeping it from moving to the next file.
You asked how to remove embedded chapters - and the named function would be one to remove them.
Why your player behaves the way it does is in many cases beyond the scope of MP3tag.
I don't have this player, but you could check in settings if it's possible to configure the next/previous buttons to jump to next/previous file.
It seems that besides the forward/rewind buttons, this player also has next/previous file/chapter buttons (source).
Can you double-check?
