It sounds like you set up everything right, so we would have to dig deeper what the real issue is here.
Was the previous issue from adrianmmiller resolved? I am also having the same issue.
- Copied Mp3tagCoverPreview.exe v1.5 to MP3tag folder program folder
- Copied scr files to AppData...Sources folder
- Open MCP, open MP3tag, perform cover search from MCP, and also tried from MP3tag
It appears that MCP is doing everything it should do EXCEPT displaying the covers in the program window.
Any ideas?
Windows 10 Pro
Don't put Mp3tagCoverPreview.exe in the (Mp3tag) program folder. It probably doesn't have write permissions there.
Use a folder without write restrictions.
Thanks for the reply, Dano.
I unpacked the exe and all associated zipped files into the Users/Public folder with same behavior.
Order of actions:
- Open MP3Tag 3.21
- Open MCP
- Alt+S, P, 1 results in MCP empty image placeholders, attached screenshot #3.
- Clicking empty image space opens image website, attached screenshot #4.
- Clicking Preview has no effect.
- Opening MCP first has no effect.
- Tested all MCP scripts with no luck
I confirmed that the scr are in the installed MP3Tag Sources folder and they seem to be working except for display of images in the MCP window. The lure of this program is to see the images before opening the content web page, of course...
Any help is appreciated.
Further to the above, I am using MS Edge, not IE browser as required in your ReadMe instructions. I tried to run IE, but Edge hijacks and won't let it run.
Can you try this version?
Mp3tagCoverPreview.rar (629.7 KB)
Does it give an error msg at start?
You don't have to run the browser, it just needs to be installed. (Probably not even needed anymore when I compile it with the latest autoit)
I tried the modified version you sent (thanks), but got the same result...no images, just blank placeholders...
What dependencies might I be missing? Many MS bloatware programs are blocked from running at startup...
To clarify, the recent version does not give an error message, but did not solve the problem. My version of Windows 10 is a fully functional work and media install but has some telemetry turned off, and Edge blocked from running at startup.
Do you have any ideas? It appears that some others are having similar issues...
Can you make a screenshot after you started the program and expanded the window (+ Button) but without any Mp3tag searches. And one screenshot like your first one but that is scrolled all to the right (so we see all the cPreview columns)
Please do it with this build. This one makes a Debug.txt file with some information, post the content of that file after doing 2 searches. Thanks.

Odd that the forum did not allow me to post a reply to your last comment, stating that I had met my 3 reply limit on this topic. I downloaded the last exe you sent on 18 Aug and ran the program with MP3Tag.
Here is the screenshot and debug file. I fumbled around a few times trying to get around the error since I have seen it before but it was not persistent. This time it seems persistent.
Debug.txt (523 Bytes)
Another run without MP3Tag search, only "Plus" button activated, then clicked "01" search. Sorry the previous reply and debug file did in fact include an MP3Tag search to reveal the cPreview window column.
Debug.txt (616 Bytes)
OK, please ignore the previous reply and take a look at this post instead. Forgive the double posts since I seldom post on forums thus not proficient in forum protocol of "quote" as a reply etc.
I have attached three new screenshots, one with the "+" button only, then two "01" button searches to reveal the cPreview window column. Notice that the 2nd search screenshot shows the automatic activation of the first available search result instead of the the search result window. On the bright side, the error did not repeat.
Debug.txt (93 Bytes)
Thanks.
It seems it doesn't even try to download any pics, probably because it somehow doesn't (correctly) read the column values from the search results window. I will have to look into this further..
What I noticed from the screenshots, why do you have 2 Mp3tag Icons in the task bar?
Thanks for checking Dano, hopefully the issue is not too deep.
The second MP3Tag icon in the taskbar is a customized shortcut icon for your MCP exe;-)
Another version with some more debug info and it should show a popup what values were read from the columns..
Mp3tagCoverPreview3.rar (630.3 KB)
Here is the result with new debug version...

Do you have the 64bit version of Mp3tag? I think this is the issue.
I added a 64bit version to the first post. Please try it.
Presto! x64 version worked. Is there a way to automatically display the cover size without clicking the cover name below the images?
I noticed that the program saves every cover that it finds without any further user interaction. See screenshot of program folder and saved images. Is this intended behavior? Can it be turned off?
