Creating a Tag Panel entry and have it show up in Windows 11

I created a new tag panel entry called "Date released", this is used to show the date that the Album was released. I then created a Column called "Date released" in MP3Tag to coincide with the column that you can add in Windows 11. Problem, "date released" does not show up in Windows 11, the column that you can use for it is there, but the data is not.
Tag Panel

Realizing that you cannot read the entire entry for the "Column" entry, I'll add it here "$meta_sep(datereleased,\)" I have no problem if I export the data as a "CSV" into Excel, but Windows just doesn't like it for some reason. Any help would be greatly apreciated,

DATERELEASED is a user-defined field.
I doubt that the WIndows Explorer supports user-defined fields.
The label that you see in the Windows Explorer is not the field name.

See this thread to see which windows explorer labels match which ID3 field:

Could you please show us a screenshot from Windows 11 where we can see the mentioned Windows 11 File Explorer column name "date released"?
And if possible, please show us also a screenshot from the Windows 11 File Explorer with the same property "date released" filled in a track with a value.

BTW: I'm not sure if Windows 11 really offers such an entry "date released".

I have taken 2 screen shots. The first being MP3Tag with the Date Released, the second being Explorer with the same Column. MP3Tag is filled where Explorer is blank.

Yes, this is what you find on your machine. It does not help a lot, though.
AFAIK Windows Explorer does not display user-defined fields - and DATERELEASED is a user-defined field.
It would be your task

  • to find a file that shows something in the WIndows Explorer date released column,
  • load that into MP3tag,
  • check the field name for that field in the extended tags dialogue Alt-T and
  • create corresponding elements in the tag panel and the file list with the investigated field name.

The label of the column in the windows explorer does not really tell the name of the field.
I mean the data should be visible in any local language and e.g. in German such a column would be called "Veröffentlichungsdatum" and I do not think that an MP3tag definition of VERÖFFENTLICHUNGSDATUM would lead to a filled column in the Windows Explorer.

Maybe it is easier to understand to other way around:

You need to find a way to fill your "Date released" in the Windows 11 File Explorer.
You can try it directly in the File Explorer column or on the properties (right-click) of a track in the File Explorer.
As soon as you can enter your "Date released", the chance is high, that you can see the same value in Mp3tag pressing Alt + T or menu View -> Extended Tags where you could also see the used tag name.

The Windows 11 File Explorer offers hundreds of columns. Only a few of them are valid and useable for music files. Others are valid only for video files. Others are valid only for office files and so on.

I have found the only column that would be compatible would be the "Comments". The music which i listen to is from the 50's, 60's, 70', and 80's, some of which are compilations by DJ's which I am familiar with. Realizing that each Title can have its own album, I prefer to keep it with the Album that it has been compiled on as it would be darn near impossible to collect. The Date Released column created in MP3Tag works in Excel, where I keep all my Titles, but I'm stuck with the "Comments" in regards to Windows. Well, at least I tried. Thanks guys.

Just to get this crystal clear: the problem is on the Windows Explorer side.
The column works in Excel only if you have an export script with which MP3tag translates the tag field content into a text file.
