File List columns for extended tags are empty

CLICKED alt-t and i see the extended custom column info- for individual files BUT in a entire folder (many many files) the extended columns are empty. How do I return the info to the custom columns?

Are you referring to columns in the File List or to what's displayed in the Extended Tags window?

columns in the file list are empty

OK, then please have a look at this topic on editing columns in the documentation on how to configure the File List

The important fields are Value and Field.

Are all the columns empty or does the file list show the filename/path?
What does the status bar show: how many files are loaded and how many are displayed?

I opened the Utils → Load configuration and there was nothing there.

all columns have data except for the custom columns- but on an individual MP3 the data in the custom column does appear!

I was referring to editing columns and the menu item to get there is View → Customize columns... .

You can only load a configuration file if you have previously saved one.

I'm not sure if we talk about the same.
In the thread title you write "File List columns for extended tags are empty".
These are two completely different things:
The File List shows the content of your tags in a spreadsheet-like view.
You can adjust these columns as you like.

The Extended Tags can be viewed by pressing Alt + T on one or more selected tracks.

So what exactly is empty for you?

Can you please show us a screenshot?

THE TWO COLUMNS ׂof LOCATION and SHANAׁ DO NOT APPEAR IN LIST BUT ARE IN THE METADATA.
IN ADDITION, EACH FILE HAD A DATE 01/01/0000 AND THIS FIELD DOES NOT NOW APPRAR IN METADATA OR THE FILE LIST

THANKS FOR THE HELP

You would have to add extra columns if you are not satisfied with the ones that you get initially. There is no automatism to add or remove columns in respect to the currently loaded files.
See the already linked documentation on how to customize the file list (and/or tag panel):

Is it then possible to "recover" the data that appears in the megadata so that it appears in the full file list?

Yes.

It is now up to you customize your file list.
