Folder cover art not showing

Was trying to switch from Tag&Rename since it hasn't been updated in a while. One feature I hoped to find in Mp3Tag is folder cover art being displayed. But even after unchecking "Don't show files in the file system as cover".I still only see cover art that is embedded in the mp3 files.

Is there no way to see both embedded cover art and folder art side by side, like in Tag&Rename? See attached pic for clarification.

Thank you!

No.
The current version of Mp3tag v3.28 only shows the embedded picture, not a folder cover art.

Why would you like to see that?
What would be your use case?

Hello jakob1, I noticed that you have 2 identical images:

Your image Folder Covert art: Your image has a dimension of 200 x 200

Your image File covert art: Your image has a dimension of 498 X 500

Excuse me for asking you this question, I am curious to know, why do you have 2 identical images that are of different dimensions?

Sure, one of the images--the 200x200--was generated by Windows Media Player back in the day.
I don't use Windows Media Player anymore, but I've kept the cover files in the folder, as I prefer to how my library looks with them than without them--see attached pic for comparisons.

Once in a while I'll go through my older mp3 files and use Tag&Rename to save the embedded album art to the folder, as those images are better quality. I was hoping to use MP3 tag in a similar fashion, but I guess that's not the intended use case. No worries, tx.

You can do this the other way around to get rid of the low resolution artwork.

First I'd use Win Explorer or similar and delete all of the current images. Then use mp3tag to export each embedded cover to the album folder. There is an option to not duplicate the images.

Maybe I'll give that a try. Tag&Rename has been great but looking like abandonware at this point, so should try something that is still being developed.
Thanks!

Just make sure all of your music files have embedded artwork first, in case you need one of them. But frankly the 100x100 and 200x200 thumbnails that WMP stores are really pretty useless anyhow.

Thanks jakob1 for the info…

It's true that Mp3tag can do a very good job of exporting each covers embedded in your album folder, I've experienced it and it's very good...
