Guess value action

Good Morning,

i currently have a action called alfd that pulls the country from dorectory ok, how can i set an action to put the country into artist location? i can’t figure out the guess string value for the new input field. Thank You

Neither can I as I do not see the original data nor the name of the target field.

sorry here’s ss

and what does the

look like?

that format string st field called country and places rhe country in it. i like to have the country in artist field instead so i can’t figure out the string format to do this. i believe format value will work but i don’t know the format string value

As you still do not show real data, I can only guess (!).
Try Format value for ARTIST
Format string: %artist% (%country%)

This works only if you have data already in COUNTRY.

no i would like to move or input (if it’s new) the data from country to artist location

That is exactly what my suggestion does:
I appends / adds the contents of COUNTRY to ARTIST.
As we apparently do not understand each other it would be nice if you could supply the following:
a screenshot of the data where he country should come from - if it is _DIRECTORY, then a real folder name would be necessary. If it is the field COUNTRY, then a screenshot of the extended tags dialogue of a single file would be the best help.
Also, I would appreciate a screenshot of what the target field looks like before the modification an one as it should like after the modification.

ok her’s my action input

here’s the outcome

nothing goes to ARTIST LOCATION that where i like to input to not artist.

Which of these screenshots shows the real directory name or the place where the ARTIST LOCATION should come from?

rorget it people such as yourself think others should know programming. well my there’s alot out there that try or don’t and come here to seek some simple help. I’M DONE no response is needed.

I asked a simple question:

because only then any kind of extraction code makes sense.
Your suggestion with

did not work as you say.
So again:
what is the contents of %_directory% as you use that source.

@dp19 If you are the one asking for help, it is in your best interest to provide real file info so an accurate answer can be provided. This has been an ongoing omission from many of your requests.

In this example that was finally provided, only three fields are visible - ARTIST, CD, and TITLE. And further the full file path is D:\()\ALLURE & 112.ALL CRIED OUT.mp3 Nowhere do I see anything related to a country code. However, a hint is there right at the top of the window. This file contains ID3v1, ID3v2.3, and APEv2 tags. I am willing to bet there is much more usable info there we just cannot see.

First action is to clean this up and get to one tag format. I highly recommend ID3v2.3 but that is up to you to decide. Search the forum here, there is plenty of information on how to do this.

After your tags are cleaned and you provide an update list of all of your tags, I am sure a simple solution will present itself.

Perhaps this thread helps you as it looks like the same problem again:

And on a side note: I don't really understand your reaction. I mean: I don't have the problem, you have.
And therefore it is of course your choice how to deal with it - which also means that you can stop any interaction any time you want.
But could you please find out for yourself how much time you intend to spend and how open you are to answer questions and supply additional information before you start a thread?
Also, please start to follow these guidelines:

You have started a lot of threads that did not apply to these rules and it is very time consuming for the participants in this forum to ask for the missing information in several iterations.
This is also addressed in the linked post:

If you're asked any follow-up questions, please assume the best intentions, be as helpful as possible and try to answer in earnest and with the best intentions.

Use screenshots to exemplify the issue

It’s often helpful to see what you’re doing. Because nobody here can look over your shoulders, a screenshot sometimes adds detail to your description and an experienced user can spot issues, that are not obvious for others. Especially for questions regarding tag contents, missing tag fields, and other tag-field related issues, a screenshot of the Extended Tags Dialog of the file in question via Alt + T is often helpful.
