i added cover art to my songs, but when i open it on my phone the album art is from another album that i dont even have
What phone? What app? If you open the Extended Tags window in mp3tag does the highlight song show the correct art? Does the artwork box show there is more than 1 cover?

If you are sure that you have really embedded the cover (as proof a screenshot from the extended tags dialogue Alt-T would be nice), then it boils down to a player problem check if
- there is a cache for the player (and empty it),
- the player looks for covers itself in the internet and guesses that the displayed cover is the right one.
Make also sure that you have filled the tag fields for ALBUMARTIST, ARTIST, TITLE and ALBUM

As there are so many fields like the barcode or catalognumber, I am not sure what the player uses to identify the album.
It may be worth a try to use a copy of the original file in which you strip all fields but the basic ones and then see if the player shows more of the local data

and perhaps TRACK and YEAR. But that should be it.
The filename should also be different so that the player is forced to take the file as a new file.
