How to reset the Windows icon cache to display an updated app logo icon

I've updated the app icon with v3.09 and now receive several support messages, where the desktop icon doesn't show the new logo. This is due to Windows' 10 internal caching of icons which can be resolved with a few commands on the command prompt:

  1. Open Start and search for Command Prompt.

  2. Right click on the result and select Run as administrator.

  3. On the command prompt, enter the following command to navigate to the icon cache location:
    cd %homepath%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

  4. On the command prompt, enter the following command to end the Explorer process:
    taskkill /f /im explorer.exe

  5. On the command prompt, enter the following command to delete the icon cache files:
    del iconcache*

  6. On the command prompt, enter the following command to restart Explorer:
    explorer.exe
