Hi, long term Mp3tag user on Windows here so since I am switching to MAC it was a no brainer to immediately buy the Mp3tag on the Mac Appstore, no need for the trial version as I know Florian delivers quality.
Oke I have 1 suggestion and 1 question
Suggestion: I accidentally removed the tag of a file and I did not get a warning before I did so. Maybe it’s an idea to add this to the MAC version.
Question:
I want to import the actions from my Windows PC into the Mac version. But I can’t seem to find the configuration files of mp3tag (in MAC), blame this on my relative NooB status with MAC, but I thought they be Under /Users/username/ somewhere, but I have a hard time finding it.
On the Mac, operations that can be undone easily are usually not guarded behind confirmation messages. You can always use Edit → Undo or ⌘Z in case you accidentally remove a tag.
Importing .mta action groups is available since Mp3tag for Mac v1.4.4. Other settings can't be imported at the moment and it's unlikely to be implemented.
I am just used in Windows to manually edit some the config *export mainly* files but Mac is something completely different, but that is the charm of it.
One thing that I already miss is the tools option and the export function which is very basic in MAC.
Yes, running external tools is on my internal wish list. I just counted your vote for it. Do you need any specific tool? Some are already available via Open with... from the File List's context menu.
The export function of the Windows version is a constant source of time-consuming support requests for me. While it might work for many users (I don’t collect telemetry, so I don't know any numbers), most of the people I hear from struggle with the technicalities of adjusting export configurations.
Based on that, I decided to take a simpler approach with the Mac version.
I am just trying to apply the same way I worked on Windows Mp3tag to Mac Mp3tag. But that is maybe the NOT the best to do it, but again I am just a NooB on Mac. Just bought this Mac Mini M4 approx a week ago.
Tools example: I use album art downloader on Windows to find covers, and it seems a good alternative for Mac is https://coverloadapp.com/ although i haven’t tested it.
Another tool I use in Windows is a simple one is Firefox, title of song, artist and then added the text lyrics and that pushed to Google. Works a charm, although crude.
Re: Export. I love to manually tweak the export files, add text, bold text etc etc etc.
I haven’t tried to run Mp3tag Windows on Whisky on Mac yet, but I have no doubt it will work.
