MP3-Newby has non-playing albums

I am new to MP3. But now I have a DAB+ radio in my HiFi set that can play music from a UpNp source. So I converted a first batch of my CD-s to MP3, and installed them, one cd per folder, on my NAS, and made a named playlist in the same folder .
I succeeded in playing some of them, but other playlists sent message "Empty".
I can play most of these albums from a computer or Phone, though.

I am looking for errors for over a week now, but I find nothing.

  • Am I missing something more or less obvious?

I know this is hardware-related, but this seems to be the place of expertice. What do people here encounter in the world of devices playing MP3? Thinking of:

  • Forbidden characters in Titles, Tags, filename, path?
  • Max. Length folder path names?
  • Max number of Folders?

If you have "succeeded in playing some of them" you have to compare it to the ones that does not play in your environment.

What is the difference for those who do not play?

You should start your checks with the 3 points already listed.

Even though you ask concrete questions, the information base is rather vague, I would say.
If you suspect the source of error in

then real examples of tracks that play and those that don't would help.
Also, a check of the files for errors would be a good approach.

I downloaded and ran MP3 Diags. Out of abt 1700 MPss it found 5 with too long a file name. They were from 2 albums, that both play perfectly.

There is more output to check though this evening.

After that, if not yet found the big issue, I'll post two folder lists and two play lists of two cd's from one issue: CD 1 and CD2 from Purcell's Fairy queen. The first play list plays, the second is found, but on selecting it displays no MP3's, but just the message "".
That's the typical behaviur of all misbehaving play lists.

Will be back tomorrow.

it would be nice to see the contents of the playlist - these are plain text files, so they can be opened with a plain text editor like notepad.
