Not assigning tags to respective columns in Windows Explorer

This new one for some reason is not assigning tags to new songs and saving it to the source folder. It appears in the respective columns, but does not reflect the same in the folder. No error messages whatsoever.

It is not clear what you mean by not assigning tags. If you make the changes in mp3tag you can see the details in the columns. But what are you looking for in the folder? FYI the Explorer tags are unpredictably unreliable as a confirmation of the tags. Depends on the audio format. You are better to checking a media player if you are looking for a way to confirm the mp3tag actions.

Yes, I was trying to confirm this using Explorer. I didn't know that Explorer was unreliable, thanks for that info. Will try using a media player to do this from now on. Thanks.

If you really want to dig into this, some more details would be necessary:

  1. What kind of files are these?
  2. Which data is missing in Windows Explorer although you added it in MP3tag?
  3. What does MP3tag's extended tags dialogue Alt-T look like?

In many cases, screenshots help a lot as they might reveal a little more for the trained eye.

  1. They were MP3 files
  2. The data on artists names, & album

So these data does not appear in explorer but it does for my previously tagged songs

These are clearly saved to the correct locations in mp3tag. The mp3 file format is a standard that Windows should read but for many reasons may not be updating. Some are OS related, like indexing options. Again I wouldn't depend on Explorer to show these as it is often slow to update as you can see.

It is safe to assume a tag editing program such as mp3tag that is purpose built will have much more accurate capabilities to support audio tagging. As mentioned previously you can confirm using another media player to see that these changes are in fact reflected in a few test files. And once you are confident that they are you can proceed to ignore the OS deficiencies and get on with your tagging.

If you are still interested, you can provide us with this specific mp3 file and we will take a closer look at it.

as these are perfectly straightforward fields, I would suggest that you check your files for consistency.

Thanks for all the tools  Will check it out.

Hi thanks, just found out (ABSOLUTELY my silly oversight) that I did not check to see if the file played correctly after downloading it :man_facepalming: It turns out that all of them were corrupted. I redownloaded them again this time, tested 1st and now it assigns the tags correctly. SORRY Guys for the trouble. My mistake. Thousand apologies.
