I realize this has been covered MANY times, but the replies usually contain the code to use, not how to actually do this.
My library is basically Artist, Albums, Tracks. I know how to load a track, album, all albums by that artists, and.... I know how to select some or all of the tracks loaded in MP3TAG and change and save the tag fields on the left panel.
Like other users, I want to remove the added text in Parentheses from Title.
Roll Over Beethoven (1832 lowres wax cylinder remix) would now be
Roll Over Beethoven
I envision loading an Artist at a time and [doing whatever someone here explains what to do next]. I explained my low skill level so you can tailor the instructions for me.
Can someone help with instructions of which dialogs to open and what values are known to work. I sounds like this is "solved" for others, I just need a nudge (not to be confused with when my mother called me a nudge) where to get started.
You can use the Action(Quick) tool called Guess Values.
Source Format %title%
Guessing Pattern %title% (%dummy%)
This is a literal conversion, so the guessing pattern has to match exactly the format of the title on your selected files. You can run this in as many as you want at one time, but the pattern has to match to work. The %dummy% field throws away the data that is found in that match. The space and round opnen/close brackets define the separation and are also discarded. You can adjust this to match other cases as well.
I found the Quick Actions and entered what you wrote. Was I supposed to select some or all Tracts first? After I put those strings into the Quick Action fields, then what am I supposed to do to start the Title name conversion?
Sorry, but I just don't understand the whole concept. Thanks for replying and for trying to help!
You do need to load some or all music files into mp3tag. You may want to use the filter function to limit the visible selection. You can select one file, several files (use Ctrl or Shift + Click), or even all files first. Then choose the Action(Quick) tool and use the suggested parameters I provided. Then click OK to execute this action.
If you don't select at least one file, the Actions are greyed out and cannot be used.
If this doesn't get you going, please post some examples with actual data and screenshots so a more accurate solution can be provided.
