Replace backslash

For some reason that I cannot explain, I suddenly have two backslashes (\) instead of the semicolon ( I entered in the "ARTIST" field in many files when there are several entries. I have tried to have these automatically replaced by the semicolon, but have had no success. What do I have to do to achieve this?

There are no real \\ in your tags.

This two \\ are only a visual representation that you have multiple tags with the same name in your track.

Please press Alt+T on your music file and check the multiple ARTIST Tags with different content in your case.

Therefore you can not replace the non-existent \\.

What exactly do you like to achieve?

What is ALT-T on the Mac?
I thought, there is something wrong and wanted to put the semicolon in the right place. But it seems there happened something else?

If you are on Mac please use the matching support forum.

I will change it for you.
(As I have no Mac keyboard I can't tell you the combination. You could use the menu View -> Extended Tags).

See the documenation

Use an action of the type "Merge duplicate fields" if you want to have only 1 field of the type ARTIST

Aha. Thank you. Now I know better what I see. Just one more question: Is it. good idea to have two ore more fields Β»ARTISTΒ« or should I unite them?

Only very few players can cope with more than 1 field of the same type.
So it depends on the features of your player what to use.

Many thanks to everyone who replied. Now I can see a little more clearly. The question remains as to who made this change. I haven't noticed it so far. Maybe it was Roon, which I recently switched to. Since I will most likely stay with Roon and it doesn't really matter for the occasional use of files on my mobile phone, it makes sense to leave everything as it is. Well, let's see.

Thanks again to everyone!
