Show different covers for collection music files

Dear community members,

I'm new here but also in using MP3Tag to organize and display my music collection on my Beosound 5 Encore in combination with my NAS Synology DS716-II+.
The covers are shown on the screen of the album in question, but if I create a collection file of different songs from different artists, only the cover of the first one is shown for all music files. Would like to see the relevant cover shown on the screen for each individual music file.
My question: is that possible and how could that be achieved via MP3TAG? Or do I need other software for that? My collection consists of MP3 and FLAC files.

Be descriptive, also in what you’ve already tried

And please write in English (or German in the Deutsch / German - Mp3tag Community)

Have you (also) filled the field ALBUMARTIST?

How are you creating this "Collection" in your application?

Hello Motley, I did create the different songs from the original albums located on my NAS as I wanted also a copy of the tapes I did recorder with my vintage taperecorder.

Hello Ohrenkino, I have tried to fill in that fiels but then the different songs als spreaded around and No longer to be seen on my BS5E. I have named the complete file Band01 (I have 12 tapes saved on my NAS as seperated files with music.

I am not sure what you want to achieve:
If every file should be treated separately by your player (and it is most likely a player problem as I am sure that MP3tag will show you any picture you like for a file.), then you have to make every file unique.
This means that it has to have different entries for
ALBUMARTIST, ARTIST, ALBUM, TITLE, TRACK
How would you like to see the grouping?

We currently have two issues:

a) What tags/fields and content is saved as metadata in your existing files on your NAS?
and
b) What is your "Beosound 5 Encore" capable to read as metadata and show on its own screen.

For b) I have not found any information online:

Your device seems to have an internet connection too. It could be that your device get all these informations from an online source and don't read it from your tracks.

We can help you with a) but for b) you have to test it in your environment.

The files are fine, you can ensure with mp3tag they get updated to reflect the correct tag details to help your player show what you want to see.

Let me clarify my previous question. How are you putting these individual files into the "Collection" you have? Is it simply putting the original files into a distinct folder on your PC, or copies of these? Or are you creating a playlist file that points to each of these original files? Or is there some other method you are using?

@Beosound5Encore : could you please edit your initial post and the thread headline to that they are in Englsh?

Hello MotleyG, All my music files (mp3 and flac) are on my NAS in dfferent folders for every artist with the album cover included. All of those are dfisplayed while playing the music. Even when I select the artist with multiple albums, every time the BS5E selects a different item the correct album cover is displayed.
Besides that I have made a different folder on my NAS in which I have copied all of my digital files as a copy of my recorded tapes (12 ea in total in 12 folders). Using MP3TAG I have added the album cover to each music file.
What I want to accieve is when I select 1 of the 12 folders to play back, that de corresponding album cover will be displayed.
I think I have tried everything with MP3TAG on my Mac Book Pro but just the first displayed album cover is not refreshed when the next musix file is played.
I hope I explained it properly for you.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you.
So I assume that the player groups all files together that have the same data in ALBUM and ALBUMARTIST.
You may have to trick the player so that it treats each file as part of an individual album - e.g. add the track number to the ALBUM.
It still means that tagging does not add features to a player.
So if that player does not read the complete metadata of a file (and with that the varying cover pictures) you will not get anything better by changing the tag data.
Or if you do, then you loose other features e.g. if you follow the suggestion to add the track number to the ALBUM field, then you probably get all the different pictures but you will never get all the tracks of the orginal album name without the added number.
You have to decide what is more important to you.

Hello,
The fields ALBUM and ALBUMARTIST are left empty for all music files in all 12 folders.
Tried to add the ALBUM names for the music files in 1 folder but no luck. Also tried to the DISC nummer, COMPILATION on 1 but nothing works the way I would like to see it.

If you leave these fields empty then all files are from the same unknown albumartist from the same unknown album.
So more data lets you see more differentiation.

True but when I fill the field ALBUM with the correct album name, then the files are spread around through the system and I can not see my original fold anymore.

I want to accieve that I can select Various and then see all the 12 folders (no 1 up to 12) so I can make my selection to play.

Yes, but that is a player feature, isn't it?
In respect to folder structure ... that should not really matter to the player. The player will most likely group tracks together by data in the metadata.
In any case: more data in more fields gives you more options to sort and group files.
Or playlists may help - but they would still rely on the player's functions.
MP3tag has the functions to edit the data in the tag fields. But you have to find out what your player likes and what you want to see the player does. And that has to be done locally on your side.
If you are not satisfied with your player's performance, then your initial question

is yes - not a different program from MP3tag, though, but a different player.
