I know I maybe late to the party here, as I just today learned about these API's, but I want to know if any of these will be updated as I've tried to look up BABYMETAL's newest album THE OTHER ONE using the iTunes API, and some Singles from them and nothing comes up when I search for it. Apple Music works as well, but weirdly the years become missing (the year at the bottom, where the other stuff are). I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what.
I tried this special artist and album and did not get any result too.
This script works with all other artists and albums I tried in the the last months. I don't know the reason for this and I think the author will possibly look after this.
You know that there are other Apple/iTunes-Scripts here from other authors and they all work with your search-details? Also the Deezer-Scripts work..
I'll have to do some reading as it's been driving me insane.
The problem with this album is that it is not in itunes as an "album", only as separate tracks. I can change the script to also list tracks, but it will flood the search results if you are not specific enough. I will take a look to see if a good solution can be made.
BABYMETAL's new album should be on the script as all the other BABYMETAL albums show up using the iTunes script, but this album doesn't. For singles, that's something I'm unsure about, as your Apple Music Web script finds the album that I wanted to use the iTunes script for, which throws me off, while iTunes doesn't. I do like the iTunes script more as it puts more details than the Apple Music one does, if any of that makes any sense at all. I do apologize as it's been frustrating me for the last like week and a half.
Another issue I'm facing is this and it's killing me to no end
Things like that have been going on and it's killing me. The dates show up on my laptop, while the phone doesn't.
Also, if you want to update the script, you can, but no pressure. I'm just new is all.
Also, side note, I could be doing something wrong on my end, but the Apple Music 4 API doesn't work for me. All it does is Connection Timed Out.
iTunes and Apple Music are separate things, with separate databases.
It is for advanced user, and you have to follow the instructions earlier in the thread
So thats why some information is missing. I got everything through the iTunes one that gave me everything I needed, but sadly it doesn't have the albums I'm looking for.
So, no way to fully use it. Got it ![]()
I hate to ask, but can the iTunes Store API be updated please? The Japanese iTunes Store API can't find that many BABYMETAL albums. I really like using the iTunes Store API's more than the Apple Music ones as it seems to give out more information.
Thank you and I'm sorry for all this trouble. I am new, but learning, but notice that the iTunes API is the best I've used for tagging.
No single source will be 100% complete or accurate. That is why alternative sources exist.
Plus, as you have already found, some newer songs are difficult to pin down. In these cases you may find it faster to simply make the desired changes manually. Certainly in the amount of time you have spent searching for this one example in the past 24 hours you easily could have entered this data yourself and moved on.
I have tried to enter the data in manually, which never shows up when I put it into the Apple Music app on my laptop. Singles, I can understand the struggle with that, but I prefer the iTunes API as it gets all the data I need down (I think some of it is glitches with the Apple Music app on the phones that aren't pulling all the data, but I could be wrong), just frustrating that some albums aren't showing up (like a new one that I found that isn't available is Creatures of the Night by Kiss, it only has the Deluxe versions of the album, not the main album from 1982).
But it's throwing me off on why one API grabs more albums than the other, but I guess that's the fun of tagging, I guess.
And I have tried alternatives, I have found this API the best one I've used. It's just weird to me that I can't get 2 albums from BABYMETAL done with my favorite API.
For Windows
If the track is already in Apple Music (or iTunes) you need to force it to update after making edits with mp3tag. There are scripts for both Apple and Windows that will do this.
I'm on Mac. I've been using the Apple Music app. The issue is when it syncs to the phone, some tags are lost. But I have tried everything to get Copyright, to the TRACKYEAR to stick. Some do and some don't.
I think it's sufficiently explained here
Please read carefully and try to not repeat yourself — it makes what you write more difficult to follow.
Okay, the best way to explain it is that Apple Music Web API pulls the album, while the iTunes API doesn't for THE OTHER ONE by BABYMETAL. I like the iTunes API source more as it gives me the tags I need. Apple Music, for some reason doesn't.
I'm guessing why I'm lost on why the iTunes vs Apple Music API's getting different albums is that I see an Single that was released in 2024, but a full album doesn't show up that was released the year prior. I don't know, I'm asking for help that may not be solved, which is fine. I'm new to this kind of thing, so it's not a big deal after all.
Links for both Windows and Mac for updating Apple Music and iTunes can be found here.
