Track numbers disappear

Why do track numbers disappear whenever I select more than 1 file from the List, to make global changes and saves in Tag Panel? I just noticed this and have removed many that I need to manually re-add.

I started with auto numbering albums, and then made changes files tags.

They don't disappear when I edit fields on the List, but then I have to copy, paste and, and enter to navigate from start to end to manually enter numbers.

I'm not sure if I changed something to make this happen. I couldn't find any related topic upon search in this community and hope someone can help prevent the track numbers from disappearing whenever I edit highlighted files from the field and make globals changes in the Tag Panel after Save.

Which tags do you read, write and delete?

Thanks for your hints. I figured this out.

After selecting more than one file on the List to make global changes, I need to make sure the track number label is <keep>. They numbers won't disappear when I do this. Now I understand that when more than 1 file is selected, only shared text is displayed in the placeholders, not when the text differs. I never noticed this until a week after using this program. But now I do.

Thanks again for your hints that helped answer all of my questions that I researched in this community and discovered a few days ago after using an MP3Tag editor for the first time.

So the display changes to <keep> which would have been a much more exact description than to say the numbers disappear.
And as you don't know what I expect as the "exact" description and I don't know what you mean by "disappear" it is always the easiest way to avoid misunderstandings and doubts by supplying a screenshot that shows the problem.

Just a footnote: the same behaviour should be observable for TITLE as well - or the lyrics.

Cover Art disppears after Saving Changes

Sometimes my cover art disappears after I make and save changes in the Tag Panel to multiple files highlighted on the List. It returns back after I delete the cover and paste it again. However, sometimes I delete the cover and a different cover appears. Is this preventable to show nothing in the Tag Panel when I delete the cover?

cannot be answered by selecting multiple tracks unless the all have different embedded pictures - but then it should be noted next to the picture frame that this is the case.
