Trouble when loading ISRC tag from WAV files

This topic has already posted here, but there is no solution yet. I use the IRSC and BPM tags for my creations on Wave files. I enter these tags using any audio editor. I can see the ISRC and BPM tags using for example the MediaInfo software, but these doesn't appear in the extended tags box of MP3tag. I haven't seen a feature request for that. Will MP3tag be able to read all the tags in WAV files in the future?

I don't know about the future - but MP3tag already supports BPM and ISRC as tag fields in WAV files:

What happens if you enter the data in MP3tag? Does it stay?

You would have to find out whether

writes these fields into the files or keeps them in its own database.

Currently, ISRC and BPM doesn't appear in the Extended tags box:

However, these tags are in the wave file as ‘isrc’ and ‘ibpm’:

Maybe, the problem is the RIFF tag format?

What happens if you write the two tag fields with MP3tag?
MP3tag supports RIFF V2.3

If I create and fill tags from MP3tag, tag format changes to ID3v2.3 (RIFF ID3v2.3) and data appear like regular IRSC and BPM tags, but do not alter the WAV file's tags, as if the WAV file's tags were different from those in MP3tag. Note that original tag format appears as RIFF.

MP3tag only supports RIFF Info chunks for WAV files.
Other information is ignored, e.g. that from RIFF text chunks.

Ok, So now I know why. Thank to help me.

Hello @47505a353938, there is a piece of software called Kid3 that supports almost all RIFF WAVE tags...

and I know that it supports BPM and ISRC tags.

I wasn't familiar with this software. I'll check it out.

Just to get this clear: MP3tag also supports both tag fields - as long as they come in the info chunks and not others like e.g. text chunks.

Just a look into the history: MP3tag did not support tags in wav files for some time as there was no real general standard.
In the end, the decision was made to support the info chunks and V2.3 format - it looks like there is (still) other software around that prooves the different, incompatible approaches.

Hello @ohrenkino,

I agree with you; I know that Mp3tag can read and write ISRC tags as well as BPM tags in WAV files.

Let’s take the BPM (TBPM) tag in WAV files as an example: if it doesn’t appear in Mp3tag, I imagine the BPM is encoded differently—much like the BPM (IBPM) tag I have in my WAV files, which was created using BSI Info Editor. When I use the program Kid3, this tag shows up, and I can modify its data without any issues.

Kid3 can handle a very extensive list of WAV tags. There is a table on their website detailing all the WAV tags that Kid3 supports, and I happen to know that the program can even handle others not listed in that table—it’s quite impressive!

I also read online that Kid3 can embed images into WAV files. I recently ran some tests, and it’s true—Kid3 actually allows you to add album cover art to WAV files. I had assumed this was impossible, so it came as quite a surprise!

I do not see a contradiction.
MP3tag cannot only read ISRC and BPM, it can also write these tag fields, even for WAV files (see my screendump of a WAV file).
The only problem could be: there is a tag section called "RIFF Info Chunks" and one called "Riff Text Chunks". MP3tag only handles "RIFF Info Chunks".
Broadcasting SW, I gather, likes to use the text chunks.
So if your target software relies on the text chunks, then MP3tag will not be the best choice for tagging.

Hello @ohrenkino,

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my text that:
Mp3tag is capable of reading and writing ISRC and BPM tags.
I have corrected this in my text above…

I agree with you; I know that Mp3tag can read and write ISRC tags as well as BPM tags in WAV files.
