Which Rekordbox fields are saved in mp3 tracks?

MP3TAG sync to Rekordbox 6

I am new to MP3TAG and want to update my mp3 collection. I am currently trying to find the correct field or tag that links into the Release date field/information within Pioneer REKORDBOX version 6. I have attempted to put the full date within the year field - this does not work I am unable to find a solution on the net please help! Thank you in advance for your time and efforts Craig Culture

I do believe Rekordbox uses the standard ID3v2.4, ape tagging specifications.

Rekordbox v6.8.4 seems to use ID3v2.3 too, if such a tag already exists in the track.
If you add a brand new track into Rekordbox v6.8.4, the ID3 standard used (and written back into the track) is v2.4. No APE tags are written into mp3 files.

You must trim the YEAR to four digits, and RELEASETIME is the Release Date, which must be using the format YYYY-MM-DD

I could not find a tag called RELEASETIME in my test mp3, written from Rekordbox v6.8.4

FYI other tags supported by Rekordbox are:
ORIGARTIST (Original Artist), ORIGALBUM (Original Album), ORIGYEAR (Original Year), SUBTITLE (Mix Name/Version), MIXARTIST (Remixed, altered or interpreted by), BPM (Tempo), INITIALKEY (Key).

These are the current fields (and cover art picture) saved into an mp3 file from Rekordbox v6.8.4:

As you can see from the yellow highlighted entries in Rekordbox

• Release Date
• Discnumber
• DJ Play Count
• Rating
• Message
• Color

will not be saved back in your track.

Also BPM will not be saved into your track.
I don't know how you @djdizzle got RELEASETIME and BPM back into your track 4 years ago.
I could also not find a ORIGALBUM in Rekordbox.

The Knowledge Base from Pioneer says at March 14, 2023 about "rekordbox metadata":

Some users have asked which metadata fields on their audio files are updated by rekordbox and which are not. The answer depends on what filetype you are using, so here's the list:

In my above own test, I can not confirm that rekordbox update this field:

• Disc Number TPOS (Mp3tag DISCNUMBER)

The Rekordbox name "Mix Name" TIT3 is called SUBTITLE in Mp3tag.

In this official Pioneer metadata matrix for Rekordbox you can see which fields are only read from existing tags and which are also written back for which music format.
Unfortunately, the matrix was last updated 2019-02-28 and seems to be outdated.
For example Key and Mix Name can be written with Rekordbox v6.8.4.

Others like BPM or Discnumber or Release date are still not updated in the tracks.
