Windows Won't Let Me Unstall Old MP3Tag to Update

I currently have v.3.16 on my HP Windows 11 laptop. I want to install the latest version 3.31. When I go to Windows Settings - Apps to uninstall it, it says an app “isn’t there to accomplish the action.” Can I just delete the old MP3Tag directory and install the latest version, or do I need to do something else? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you still have the old installation it may be worthwhile to save the configuration in a different place and after that delete MP3tag.
It may also be required to adjust the path for the shell extension if there was any.
But after that, it should be possible to delete the folder.
See also the documentation:

Usually, you can just

...install a new version over an already installed version. The installation program will keep/upgrade your settings.

It would only be advisable to remove Mp3tag manually first if you want to install it in a different directory. (Otherwise you would have 2 versions in different directories.)

The old program also should be removed if the architecture changes from 32 to 64 bit (and vice versa).

The installation program refuses to install either the 32 or 64 bit version of the latest aslong as the old one is there. And since the uninstall function in Windows 11 settings will not work on the old 32 bit version, that’s why I wanted to know if I could just delete the entire directory so the new version would be a new install.

You could rename the folder and see whether that helps.

Can you open regedit.exe and check if there are any keys like

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Florian Heidenreich\Mp3tag\Install
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Florian Heidenreich\Mp3tag\Install

If so, please delete them and try again. It seems like the previous version wasn't uninstalled cleanly or that an incomplete backup was restored.
