Cannot access file via secure bookmark mp3tag mac

Similar issue to # Cannot access file XYZ via secure bookmark

I recently upgraded to Mac OS Sonoma & this issue which was resolved is back and the fixes don't seem to work

Can you try this command via Terminal.app while Mp3tag being closed:

defaults delete app.mp3tag.Mp3tag SecurityScopedBookmarks

After that, load the folder (not the individual files) via ⌘O and see if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, I’d need more details about the concrete actions you’re performing that trigger the error and ideally a screenshot of the error message.

Will give this a shot. Need to run another batch tonight, so I'll know then

After a reboot, in Sequoia 15.3.1, this no longer works. I entered the command line, opened Mp3Tag, selected the folder with Cmd-O, and...

It looks like this issue is unrelated to secure bookmarks, so it's a different issue -- probably file permissions.

Have you checked the file permissions via Finder and ensured that the files are not locked via Cmd+I? Also, that no other app is accessing the files and prevents Mp3tag from accessing them?

If yes, BackLog is an option to get a more detailed insight into what might be causing the issue, where you can set the process to Mp3tag and include all events that are not directly created by this binary.

We had an exchange via email and it turned out, that while the original files were loaded via ⌘O, the files were moved to a different location on a NAS via an action. This is when the error message appeared.

It's necessary for Mp3tag to get permission from the system to write (or move) to these locations. For the secure bookmark to be stored, you'd need to open the root of the target directory on the the NAS, e.g.,

/Volumes/NAS/Music/

via Mp3tag's File → Open or ⌘O (you can even cancel the reading process if it takes too long) and then close Mp3tag. I also recommend this approach for your User directory at /Users/<username>/

Afterwards, both directories should be listed when you close Mp3tag and run

defaults read app.mp3tag.Mp3tag SecurityScopedBookmarks
