Mp3tag for Mac v1.1.0 released

Mp3tag for Mac v1.1.0 released

It’s been a little more than a month when I’ve released Mp3tag for Mac. Thanks to everyone who supports my work and who helped to make the launch a success!

You’ve probably noticed that I’ve also released a few versions with bug fixes, minor changes, and small features over the past few weeks — including localizations to Czech, French, Italian, and Simplified Chinese done by awesome translators — thank you  !

Today, I’ve released Mp3tag for Mac 1.1.0 which marks the first real feature-release. I want to take the opportunity to outline two of the main features for you:

Import from Text Files

The new version comes with the much-requested converter Text file - Tag, which allows for importing of tags from text files. Each line within the given text file represents the set of tags for the corresponding file in the selection (line 1 = file 1, line 2 = file 2, …). A format string describes which parts of the line are imported to which tag field. This makes importing track listings from online sources, CSV files, and more a breeze.

Merging Tag Sources Results

Some of you wanted to take the results from Discogs or MusicBrainz, but also keep existing covers and tag fields, that are not in the search result or are excluded. The new version now has a Merge option next to the usual Save. This Merge keeps existing covers and tag fields only present in the original tag when importing from online sources.

One More Thing

There is a lot more, e.g., auto-sizing columns in the file list or synchronized scrolling in Tag Sources, but I don’t want to pack this topic too full. If you’re interested, the changelog always has the full story.

And if you’re not yet using Mp3tag for Mac, you can always get the 7-day trial version — only days you’re using the app are counted.

Thank you for reading, your interest, and your support.

Enjoy and take care
— Florian

I've just released Mp3tag for Mac v1.1.1 with the following changes:

  • Added support for Spanish localization (thanks @alexouvina !).
  • Changed imported tags from converter Text file - Tag to be merged with existing tags.
  • Fixed CRLF newline characters resulted in empty lines at import from text file.
  • Fixed external changes on filenames were not reflected in the file list in some cases.
