One album of flac files won't tag correctly for Windows Explorer

Hi

Been using "convert - tag - filename" on all albums before "exporting" - all have worked so far, nice clean files.

But this one album I'm working on now just won't clean up.

It's keeping data that is stripped (contributing artist)

and not showing info that is there - (song titles)

How do I insert an image here?

Thanks.

See here:

thanks, got the image inline now

what kind of files are these?
What did you try to get tag data?
Does it work to add tag data when you enter the data manually in a field without the help of a converter?

These are FLAC audio files.

"What did you try to get tag data?" - the data is showing within mp3tag correctly but not in WIndows folder (as shown in image)

Windows File Explorer is the worst app you can use to show metadata.
I suggest to use one of the many recommended specialized players or apps for this purpose.

If you see the metadata included in your files in Mp3tag everything is fine.
The same metadata will be shown in every decent metadata app too.

The WE has a long history to fail with flac files.
Use the forum search function to look for "flac windows explorer", e.g here:

Well, did anyone at mp3tag ever get to the bottom of this? there has to be a reason. PC users must make up a huge number of mp3tag users!

The root cause is the bad implementation to read flac tags on Microsoft's side. There are some plugins around that overcome this flaw.
see e.g here:

Correct. Microsoft went in late in the game to support FLAC, and their implementation remains poorly set up. Explorer is not a good method for checking tags for FLAC, as well as many other more detailed metadata fields in other formats as well.

There is. Microsoft has no financial skin in the game to support FLAC, so they have spent little time doing more than just the basics to get the files to play. Even using their player evolved from WMP has much to be desired.

So... as long as it looks good inside mp3tag, it should be fine inside my DAP, right? (don't have it yet to test)

I guess it depends on what your DAP expects from the metadata. If it is Android based, there are many that use common player apps. And these will typically use the metadata that mp3tag writes. I use an iBasso DAP with GoneMAD, Poweramp, Neutron, and Foobar. These all work without issue. The native Mango player uses the same tags as well but I rarely use it.
