1 track cant tag as MP3tag says it corrupted or something

Hi,

I am trying to tag a wav file but MP3 tag says its unsupported file format or corrupted so I cant tag it, I have tried multiple times, replaced it with newer versions but no joy. The file is no different to my other tracks in this batch, and I use the tracks for conversion to mp3 and it tags fine, but I need to have this tagged for future mp3 conversions as the wav plays fine, looks fine but I cant figure out what the problem is?

If MP3tag says it is corrupt, then open the file in an audio editor and save it again and see if that helps.
If you still get the same results, could you supply such a or this file?

Hi, thanks for the reply, so i tried that with audacity. Still wont let me tag it on windows or macbook (I have the paid version on macBook)

Its a master wav for track as part of an EP. I need to tag it to send out on promo but if DJs cant tag the wav file (as a lot of djs use wav files in Rekordbox etc) its highly unlikely they will play the track as its impossible to tag. A track with blank tagging is not good, the other 3 tracks are fine for tagging. However, if I convert it to mp3 I can tag it. this just doesnt make sense.

Are you the developer here? I am not keen on sending out master wav files to people before release unless you are the developer.

no.
So you would have to look for a different audio editor that produces a usable wav file.
MP3tag can tag wav files.
Still, sometimes there are problems with the source, see e.g. here:

and here:

hi, I solved the issue. I used a different tag software, called Tagscanner and that did the job. Its free too. I have the paid version of mp3 tag on Mac but I think I should use a different tag editor in future but MP3 tag has always been good and I have been using it for years.....

I dont know why this one time I have this issue, but problem solved. I shall switch tag editor in future.

Out of curiousity, what bit depth and sample rate is this wav file? And what is the file size?

If you want to help improve MP3tag it would still useful to get some more details about the file, e.g. size, bitdepth, whether it is the broadcast format or whatever might be.

Could you reproduce the problem with a dummy file? And could you supply that file for further analysis?

Mp3tag looks for a correct format before it starts to tag. Not all tagging-software does this. in conseqeunt way.
You could try to wirite the file again and see what Mp3tag does with this new written files.
