Since the previous version, I have received a message every time I attempt to remove tags from an MP4 file with the following notification.

Have you tried the latest version?
I am seeing the same problem frequently in the latest build. It is not with all files, but about half of them. I found this posting, loaded the 64-bit beta on my Windows 11 machine and retried. Unfortunately, I got the same “Cannot write file” error. Is there any way for me to triage the issue, and determine what it is?
EDIT - Further investigation shows that a file with my issue has ITUNESMEDIATYPE set. Trying with Exiftool, the documentation says that the particular tag, by definition, is not editable.
See e.eg here:
and here:
I use the ITUNESMEDIATYPE field actively in my library of over 28K files without issue. I don't think this is related.
This is clearly documented and supported by mp3tag.
I also have many mp4 video files that I can edit the metadata with mp3tag. This is with v3.34-beta2 currently. More details are needed to see what else may be influencing this.
What does the extended tags dialogue show? Does
appear there? Then it is editable by MP3tag. Or does the restriction that it is not apply to exiftool?
It looks to me like the file comes from an internet source - so it would be advisable to check the file and its integrity first as no-one knows what quality the file was originally and what could have gone wrong all the way to the local storage.
Just to clarify, this is from the perspective of exiftool. The field seems to be not editable by exiftool, but can be edited fine by Mp3tag.
